Large Commercial and Industrial Demand Response Program

We’ll help you change your energy use. And start saving money, too.

If your business is a major energy consumer, Entergy Arkansas offers several programs that encourage changing your energy consumption patterns to save you money. The Arkansas Public Service Commission has recognized three Entergy Arkansas programs that will help your business review current usage patterns and find opportunities for more efficient consumption:

  1. Optional Interruptible Service Rider (OISR)
  2. Large General Service Time-of-Use Rate Schedule (GST)
  3. Large Power Service Time-of-Use Rate Schedule (PST)

To determine if these rate schedules would be beneficial to you, your business is required to undergo a detailed rate analysis. For example, if you are a high-load-factor customer, using OISR or PST rates may help you save.

Your Entergy Account Service Manager and the Entergy Arkansas Rate Design and Administration group will work with you to develop this analysis.

Who is eligible?

Each program has different eligibility requirements.

1. For the Optional Interruptible Service Rider (OISR), you must:

  • Be willing to interrupt a minimum of 100 kW every month during on-peak hours.*
  • Be willing to enter a contract for at least a one-year period but not longer than a five-year period.
  • Have the appropriate metering and communications equipment installed before service.

2. For the Large General Service Time-of-Use Rate Schedule (GST), you must:

  • Have maximum demand that is less than 1,000 kW.
  • Be willing to change your operation to use energy during off-peak hours.
  • Remain on the Time-of-Use rate for a minimum of 12 months.

3. For the Large Power Service Time-of-Use Rate Schedule (PST), you must:

  • Have maximum demand that is at least 1,000 kW.
  • Be willing to change your operation to use energy during off-peak hours.
  • Remain on the Time-of-Use rate for a minimum of 12 months.

*Should you fail to interrupt for any reason when an interruption is requested, a penalty charge will be assessed.

How does the program work?

If it is determined that your business would benefit from a Time-of-Use rate and/or the Optional Interruptible Service Rider, your Entergy Account Service Manager will work with you to verify:

  • Your understanding of the new rate and how it works.
  • That appropriate metering and communication equipment is or will be installed before service is rendered under the tariff.
  • That appropriate contracts are signed by you and Entergy Arkansas.

Will I receive technical assistance?

Yes. If you are interested in and qualify for any Demand Response Programs, an Account Service Manager will help you understand the tariffs and your rate analysis.

How much will it cost?

Costs will be identified through the tariffs and rate analysis. Additionally, you may have to pay for the installation of non-standard metering and communications equipment.
