Water Heater Pilot
Enjoy hot water and cold, hard cash
Participate in our new Water Heater Pilot with a qualifying water heater, and get a one-time enrollment incentive of $200, plus up to $100 each year.
Why participate in a Water Heater Pilot?
Water heaters are the second-largest energy-consuming appliance in a home, after heating and cooling equipment. By allowing Entergy Arkansas to temporarily turn off your water heater during peak usage periods, you can automatically reduce energy use, which helps lower demand, prevent outages and keep rates lower.
Enrolling in the Water Heater Pilot is a great way to earn some extra money while helping Entergy manage the demand on the electric grid to help avoid power outages.
How to participate
Entergy Arkansas residential customers who own their single-family home with electric water heating and have an existing qualifying hard-wired water heater (tankless water heaters and heat pump water heaters do not qualify) are eligible to enroll.
- Request an appointment by emailing [email protected].
- On the day of your appointment, the program contractor will install a communication device on your water heater and complete the enrollment process.

How it works
Enjoy effortless savings by enrolling in the Water Heater Pilot, and help reduce high energy demand when it counts most. The demand for energy can put a strain on the power supply. That’s where you come in.
When you join the pilot, a signal will be sent to turn off your water heater for a short time on a few days during summer and winter months. This brief interruption, known as a demand response event, allows you to use less energy, which in turn saves you money – and most participants don’t notice a difference in their warm water supply.
You will be notified via email when an energy-saving demand response event is scheduled to start, and you will be provided with the time an event is scheduled to end. By allowing Entergy to turn off your electric water heater, you can cash in by earning the annual participation incentive.
Benefits
When you participate, you get rewarded for automatically reducing your energy use at these important times, helping prevent outages, maintaining current energy supply and preserving the natural environment by requiring less energy production.
