Agricultural Energy Solutions Customer Testimonial
Mike Zachary Chicken Farms
Mike Zachary, owner of a chicken broiler farm in Plumerville, contacted the Entergy Arkansas Agricultural Energy Solutions Program team looking for help upgrading lighting systems in three chicken houses on his farm. Zachary was interested in updating his current traditional incandescent and compact florescent lighting to something that lasted longer, was more energy efficient and lowered his Entergy bill.
Once enrolled in the program, a complete on-site energy efficiency audit was conducted at the customer’s farm and a customized solution was proposed to replace all 195 existing lights with LED lights and add three new LED-compatible dimmer switches. These measures were an easy and effective way to reduce energy usage on the farm.
Since Zachary enrolled in the program prior to purchasing the new lighting and switches, he was able to take advantage of having energy efficiency experts available to answer questions and provide advice on the specific type of equipment needed. And best of all, he received nearly $2,000 in incentives to help cover the cost of the new lighting; these incentives covered 75% of the expense for the upgrades.
The benefits didn’t stop with the incentives. By upgrading to lighting that uses less energy and lasts longer than traditional lights, Zachary’s farm is saving approximately $500 on lighting replacement costs.
Zachary was thrilled the Entergy Arkansas Agricultural Energy Solutions Program was able to help his farm become more energy efficient. Per Zachary, his experience participating in this program was “a win-win situation for both Entergy and the customer!”
